Masterclass with Mr Ben Chiarella

Unlocking the Potential of Virtual Care

Ben Chiarella is currently the Operations Manager for Western NSW Health’s Virtual Rural Generalist Service; he has previously held the roles of Director of Clinical Innovation at Ramsay Connect and Deputy CEO and Chief Nursing Officer of The Rural and Remote Medical Services.  He has a wealth of experience in managing change and driving innovation and operational performance across Health, Aged Care and Community Services with a particular unique experience in virtual models of care.

Ben has a Bachelor of Education (Secondary Human Movement and Health Education), a Master of Business (Human Resources and Marketing) and a Master of Nursing from the University of Sydney.  

Ben came to nursing later in his career after starting out in Human Resources management including experience across Human Resources, Recruitment and Restructuring. However, the love of change and innovation drew him towards health in his early 30s.

Ben has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities around rural and remote health, chronic disease, and ageing both as a Registered Nurse and in his role designing innovative virtual models of care to support older people to age in place.  He comes with a strong reputation as a people manager and thought leader around health innovation and change.
